Brother's Venture into Imports

Labasa Farm Fresh Fiji Limited is a limited liability company incorporated on 29th July, 2014 by brothers Madhuwan and Arvind Reddy, who hold equal shares to the business.

The idea to venture into this business resulted from the inquisition made by one of their brothers, who is a businessman in Australia involved in the importation of fruits and vegetables from farmers in Nadi.

After convincing his brothers, who farm their land in Nabekavu, the trio decided to start this business.

Madhuwan had in 2011 started the business of buying bele, duruka, chestnuts, cowpeas, chillies, jackfruits, breadfruits, cassava leaves and shredded coconuts renting out a small space at Naodamu in Labasa. Farmers who supply to the factory are fixed with buying prices that differ at the farm gate and when delivered to the processing site.

Through the years, Labasa Farm Fresh Fiji Limited has expanded in terms of returns, asset acquisition and ownership (equity), number of employees as well as increased demand. The current space operation was too small thus the need to acquire a location to efficiently and effectively operate from.

In 2015, the company applied for a loan at Fiji Development Bank, which approved $128,320.00 for property acquisition, blast freezer facility and property renovation costs.

Labasa Farm Fresh Fiji Limited was started with the grant assistance of $25,000.00 given by the Northern Development Programme (NDP).
